The Little Engine That Could

I share my story with customers at least twice a day.  The story I share is a story about falling head over heels in love with Bristol.  So much so that I up and relocated my little sole proprietorship business from Historic Sudbury, MA ( 01776) to much more Historic and livable Bristol ( 02809).  And I am not looking back.

It was a little boat ride from Fogland to Bristol harbor for lunch that turned into the ride of the decade.  My husband and I fell fast for the tree-lined streets with architectural gems on a working waterfront.  We moored our 1955 wooden runabout named "Floatin' Around" --pure optimism-- at Thames waterside and had a quick lunch there before the family set off to explore Bristol and what she had to offer.  Other than lacking a book store to satiate our sons it had the New England Village feel that permeated our spirits and set the seeds of change without us being the wiser.  When it was time to head back to my cousin's cottage in Tiverton we all met up on the dock and realized that the chop had picked up tremendously during our explorations and it would be a rough ride home.  I stuffed my packages full of treasures from the downtown shops under the bow and prepared for a choppy ride.  And choppy it was.  By the time we were under the bridge we were soaked and I had just about had enough.  But we trekked on with our vintage 16 foot wooden transport and eventually arrived in Fogland much happier for the experience.  We discovered Bristol by boat, and our lives would change forever.

It is three years later and we own a darling 1835 Dutch Colonial on High Street and I moved my flower shop from 01776 to 02809 after eyeing a wonderful retail space for lease on State Street waterfront.  What a dream.  But my eyes are wide open and I see great things ahead.  Thank you, Bristol!
