Angelo Ferreira Borges: Retired Bristol Town Employee

Funeral services for the Bristol resident are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 22.

 

Angelo F. Borges, 78, of Fox Hill Avenue passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 18th. He was the husband of the late Irene P. Borges.

Born in Furnas, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Estevao and Maria dos Anjos (Ferreira) Borges. He had been a resident of Bristol since 1954. He was employed by the Town of Bristol Water Pollution Control Department for 32 years before retiring in 1996. He served on the Capital Project Sewer Committee and also served as a volunteer for the Bristol in Bloom Committee. He was a member of the Cup Defenders Association. Angelo loved his gardens and his koi pond. He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by his daughter Donna M. Borges and his granddaughter Paula (Couto) Oliver and her husband Keith Oliver. He recently became a great grandfather to Cameron Jaxson Oliver. He is also survived by his sisters Ana V. Sousa and Maria J. Melo of Bristol and his nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 22 at 8 am from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am at St. Elizabeth Church, 577 Wood St. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol.
Visiting hours are Friday from 5 to 8 pm.
