Arthur T. Menezes, 89, Retired Bristol Public Works Laborer

His funeral service and calling hours are today from the George Lima Funeral Home in Bristol.

Arthur Tavares Menezes, of Bristol, passed away on Jan. 2, 2014, at Saint Antoine Residence in North Smithfield, RI. He was 89.

He was the husband of the late Maria Lucille (Machado) Menezes. Born in Rabo de Peixe, St. Michael, Azores, he was the son of the late Manuel Tavares Ferreira and Maria do Rosario Menezes.

He had been a laborer for the Bristol Public Works for years before retiring and had been a member of the Santo Cristo Committee of St. Elizabeth Church and the Santo Cristo Club and the Bristol Sports Club.

He is survived by his daughters Lucy Menezes of Cranston and Rita Menezes of North Smithfield and sons Adelino Menezes of Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores and Joseph Menezes of Bristol; six grandchildren, Elliot Lepre, Tanya Lepre, Jessica George, Allison Menezes, Conner Menezes, Wilson Menezes. He was the brother of Hortensa Pereira of St. Michael, Azores and the father of the late David Menezes and brother of the late Virginio Menezes, Joseph Menezes, Manuel Menezes, Armando Menezes and Urania Ledo. 

Funeral services will be held today Jan. 6, at 9 am from the George Lima Funeral Home, 367 High St., Bristol with a graveside service at 10 am at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bristol. 

Calling hours are today from 9 to 9:30 am at the funeral home.
