Fernando DaSilva, 86, Retired Boat Carpenter

His visiting hours are today and his funeral is Tuesday from the Sansone Funeral Home in Bristol.

Fernando DaSilva, of 5 Villa Avenue, Bristol, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 86.

He was the husband of Maria Louisa (Moitoso) DaSilva, his wife of 52 years. Born in Castelo Branco, Faial, Azores, he was the son of the late Antonio E. and Maria A. Rocha-DaSilva.

He was a carpenter for many years for Pearson Yachts in Bristol, retiring a number of years ago. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church and active on various Feast Committees at the church over the years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Fred DaSilva and his wife Laurie and Lezette DaSilva, all of Bristol, and Carlos DaSilva and his wife, Belmira and a sister, Bernadette Quadros, all of Faial, Azores, six grandchildren, Tracy L. DaSilva and her partner, Amanda Rego, Nicole L. DaSilva, Joshua DaSilva and his wife, Felicia, Kayla Stanzione, Carla Rosa and Tatiana DaSilva and two great grandsons, Lourenco Furtado and Vincente Rosa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Idalina DaSilva.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 at 10 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Elizabeth's Church, 577 Wood Street, Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol. V
