Jacqueline 'Jackie' Tavares, 85, Lifelong Warren Resident

She was the wife of the late William 'Harpo' Tavares.

Jacqueline “Jackie” (LaRocque) Tavares, of Warren, passed away at home on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2013. She was 85.

She was the beloved wife of the late William J. “Harpo” Tavares. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Medora (LePage) LaRocque.

Tavares was a lifelong Warren resident. She graduated from Warren High School and worked for Amica Insurance. She was the treasurer of Eastern Seafood in Warren before leaving to start her family.

Tavares and her late husband had a passion for traveling and were able to enjoy many trips together. They enjoyed spending time on Narragansett Bay in his work skiff. They cherished times spent with family and looked forward to summer clambakes. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the love of her life. 

She was the beloved mother of Nancy (Raymond) Romano and James (Valerie) Tavares of Warren, and Paul (Kathi) Tavares and Jane Tavares of Bristol. She was also the mother of the late William J. Tavares, Jr.  and was the loving grandmother of Maya and Kyle Tavares; Chris, Michala and Matt Romano; Zach and Chloe Silva; Karina, Mark and Alexys Tavares, and the beloved great- grandmother of Chris and Caden Romano and step-grandmother of Caitlin Kelley. 

Arrangements were handled by the Smith Funeral & Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren, where family received friends on Dec. 8. Her funeral service was on Dec. 9 her burial in St Mary of the Bay Cemetery.
