Janet M. Mello, 76, Retired Hospital Accountant
Her calling hours are Friday and her funeral is Saturday from the Sansone Funeral Home in Bristol.
Janet M. (Sousa) Mello, of 77 Wood St., Bristol, died Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, at her home. She was 76.
She was the wife of George Mello, her husband of 49 years. Born and raised in Providence on Smith Hill, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Marie (Sullivan) Sousa.
Mello was a graduate of St. Patrick's High School and was a staff accountant for Rhode Island Hospitalin Providence for 43 years, retiring in 1996.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Bristol, and was a member of the Bristol and Warren Senior Citizens Centers, a member of the Red Hat Society and the Royal Travelers of Fall River, Mass.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood Street, Bristol, will be held on Saturday, Feb., 1, at 8:30 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut Street, Bristol.
Visiting hours are Friday, Jan. 31,from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church.
