Obituary: Antonetta (Murgo) Francis

The 83-year-old Bristol resident will be laid to rest Saturday at 9 a.m.


Antonetta "Etta" (Murgo) Francis, age 83, of 25 Terrace Ave., Warren, died peacefully, Tuesday, Oct. 2, at St. Elizabeth's Manor, Bristol, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Frank Francis. Born and raised in Bristol, she was a daughter of the late Gaetano and Ermelinda (Cupolo) Murgo.

Mrs. Francis had been a Warren resident for 50 years. She had graduated from Colt Memorial High School in Bristol and worked for 25 years in the Building Inspector's Office for the town of Warren, retiring in 2002. She had previously worked for the former US Rubber Company and Converse Rubber Company, both formerly in Bristol. She was a communicant of St. Alexander's Church, Warren.

She is survived by seven children, Joan E. Francis of Bristol, Ann Marie Roy (Dennis M.) of Barrington, Daniel F. Francis of Warren, Frank Francis, Jr. of Bristol, Jane L. Francis of Barrington, Joseph F. Francis (Jill Marie Cheetham) and Christine E. McGovern ( Nicholas), all of Warren; two sisters, Philomena Pezzullo and Doris Moskala, both of Bristol; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, William J. and Gaetano F. Francis; four brothers and a sister, Paul F., John B., Rudolph M., Michael and Lucy E. Murgo.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, Saturday, Oct. 6, at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Alexander's Church, 218 Main St., Warren. Burial will follow in St. Alexander's Cemetery, Greenlawn Avenue, Warren.
