Obituary: Michael R. DeMeo

Michael R. DeMeo, 74, of 951 Hope St., Bristol, died Monday, Sept. 10, at his home with his loving wife of 20 years, Kathleen D. (Padbury) DeMeo at his side.

Born in Cambridge, MA, and a resident of Bristol most of his life, he was a son of the late Joseph and Maria Margaret (DeLeo) DeMeo. Michael was a 1956 graduate of Colt Memorial High School, Bristol, and graduated from Providence College in 1960 with a degree in education. He was a history teacher for 40 years, starting his career at Jamestown High School, then teaching for many years at Warren High School and retiring in 2000 from Mt. Hope High School, Bristol. He had served in the Army reserves for a number of years.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by a son, Joseph M. DeMeo of Fall River, MA, a step-son, David A. Drupa and his wife, Jill of Leesburg, VA; grandchildren, Brittany L. DeMeo of Boca Raton, FL, Christine DeMeo of Newport, Smith and Tate Drupa of Leesburg, VA; a brother, Anthony J. DeMeo and his wife Doris of Barrington. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John G. DeMeo, a brother, Francis R. DeMeo and a sister, Elaine T. DeMeo.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Monday, Sept. 17, 2012 at 10 a.m. in , 141 State St., Bristol. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Chestnut St., Bristol. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Memorial contributions may be made to the , 525 Hope St., Bristol.
