Bristol Man Charged With Molesting Teen

Man allegedly molested child, 14, back in 1988.

A 56-year-old Bristol man was arrested early last Friday morning, Dec. 13, on four counts of child molestation dating back to 1988.

Richard P. O’Connell, of 51 Collins St., was picked up on a Superior Court bench warrant by two Bristol patrol officers at about 12:30 am, according to the arrest report. It is alleged that O’Connell molested a woman who was then under age 14 on at least four occasions between Feb. 1 and July 1, 1988, and between Sept. 1 and Dec. 31 in the same year.

The warrant was issued last Thursday, Dec. 12, after a grand jury indictment. The case was brought to a grand jury by the Attorney General’s Office.
