A Bristol man learned a lesson last week about keeping his eyes on the road while driving.
The man was heading south on the Wampanoag Trail about 3 pm on Thursday, Feb. 21, near Kyle Street, according to Barrington Police. The next thing he knew, he told officers, he was in a grove of trees off the road after apparently diverting his attention from the roadway.
The man said he was not hurt. He refused medical treatment from Barrington EMTs.
His 2007 Mercedes was wedged up against a tree after it left the road. It was towed to a repair shop. There was no estimate of damage.
The crash appeared to happen just as the man said, according to police. There was no indication that the man was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The accident drew several Barrington patrol cars and the fire department’s Ladder truck.
