charged a 17-year-old Bristol teen with reckless driving in connection to the off Main Road that sent two people to the hospital.
Lt. Patrick Jones said police responded to the scene, which was actually behind the at 1320 Main Road, on West Ridge Drive. The accident occurred at approximately 5 p.m. and the boy's arrest happened at 5:45 p.m. According to Robert Lloyd, the teen reportedly drove a black Ford pick-up truck heading northbound on West Ridge Drive into a white Ford pick-up truck driving southbound.
Lloyd said that rescue transported one occupant from each vehicle to St. Anne's Hospital and Charleton Hospital in Fall River to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. The teen was not injured.
After police spoke with both operators and witnesses to the accident, it was determined the teen drove his black Ford pick-up on West Ridge Drive at a high rate of speed.
"He came around a bend in the roadway and continued to accelerate," Jones said. "He lost control of the vehicle and struck the white pick-up."
The white pick-up sustained major damage to its front driver's side door, Jones added. The teen was brought to the police station and charged.
Lloyd added that a hazardous materials truck responded to the scene to clean up a small oil spill in the road leaking from the teen's pick-up truck.
