Firefighters Extinguish Blaze at Bristol Home

battled an early afternoon "Code Red" fire at a home in Bristol on Monday.

At approximately 11:40 am on Monday, Nov. 14, Bristol firefighters were dispatched to 3 Old Orchard Farm Road for a house fire.

Firefighters quickly worked to extinguish the flames and cut through the roof to allow the smoke to clear out. The back of the home was charred and the vinyl siding had peeled back and melted from the heat. The rear side of the home appeared to take the blunt of the flame and smoke damage.

Neighbors said they hadn't immediately realized that there was a fire since the front of the house was undamaged.

"I looked outside and saw all the fire trucks," said a next door neighbor who went on to say that when the firefighters cut a hole in the roof, smoke and flames were pouring out of the top of the house. "It is just so sad. You don't want to see this happen to anyone, especially so close to the holidays."

No injuries have been reported at this time. Neighbors say the owner, Sarah Klein of the Bristol Recreation Department, and her family were not inside of the house when the fire occurred. The family dog was also rescued from the home. Klein was on scene, hugging her daughter while firefighters worked to smolder the flames.

As of 1:20 pm, the fire had been contained but officials were still on scene. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
