Leader of Hampton Nonprofit Group Charged in Serious Hit-and-Run

An elderly Methuen, Mass., woman sustained life-threatening injuries after being struck Wednesday night.

The editor-in-chief of a Hampton-based nonprofit organization is facing a conduct after an accident charge after allegedly striking and critically injuring a woman with his car at about 5:36 p.m. Wednesday in Methuen, Mass., according to the Eagle-Tribune.

John F.J. Sullivan, 46, who lives at 22 Laurel Ave. in Methuen and runs Live Free or Die Alliance, which is based out of One Liberty Lane Conference Center in Hampton, was arraigned Thursday morning in Lawrence District Court, according to the Eagle-Tribune.

Sullivan's 2002 Toyota Camry allegedly struck Manok Leach, 70, of 22 Mystic St. in Methuen, while she was crossing the street at the intersection of Pelham and Mystic streets, according to the paper. Sullivan then allegedly left the scene. The Eagle-Tribune has reported Leach, who was in critical condition Thursday morning, was transported to Lawrence General Hospital with serious injuries after the crash, and was later airlifted to Boston Medical Center.

Sullivan is a Hampton-North Hampton Patch blogger, and is a former night editor of the Salem News and a former employee of the Eagle-Tribune.

I knew John (when he worked for Seacoast Media Group as an editor) many years ago and he was actually a gentleman. Please don't convict him online...
