students and faculty unexpectedly spent nearly two hours in the warm sun Wednesday afternoon, and someone is likely to pay for it.
According to an announcement by Principal Don Rebello to students at the end of the day, a bomb threat was written in the boys' bathroom near the cafeteria. Rebello told students they are not taking the matter lightly, and they won't stop until they find out who did it. He said they are bringing in a handwriting specialist to help with the investigation.
Rebello also announced there is a reward for information leading to the culprit. The person responsible could be charged with a felony.
Students and faculty were removed from the school at about 11:45 am and were not allowed back into the building until nearly two hours later. Students were grouped into the stands at the football field.
The evacuation disrupted the third and fourth lunches, so those students sat outside without food or drinks for the duration. They ate when they returned to the building. A nurse distributed sunscreen to students during the wait.
