Arrested:

  • Edward Verna, of 237 State St., on a charge of disorderly conduct, on Sept. 16 at about 3 p.m. following what police described as a "father-son dispute" over a car. Verna is scheduled for a Sept. 25 arraignment in Sixth District Court.

As a condition of his no-contest plea on Sept. 23, Judge Terence Houlihan sentenced Almeida to 30 days at the ACI with 11 months' probation and an 11-month suspended sentence, and dismissed two previous charges. Houlihan also ordered Almeida to attend domestic abuse counseling, and continued the no-contact order.
  • Jonathan Child, of Smithfield, on a felony charge of assault with a dangerous weapon, on Sept. 21 at about 9:30 p.m. after his arrest by East Providence Police. Child is currently awaiting trial on a violation of a no-contact order charge brought by Pawtucket Police, and on a separate felony assault charge brought by Providence Police.
