A Warren man, 25, is scheduled to be arraigned in District Court on Friday, Jan. 24, for a charge of drunk driving in Warren last Saturday, Jan. 18, after his car hit a utility pole. He received minor injuries.

Mark A. Alves Jr., of 7 Napoleon St., was found by Warren patrol officers still sitting in the front seat of his car on Serpentine Road around 12:40 am. His vehicle snapped off the pole, according to Warren Police Lt. Roland Brule

Alves demonstrated numerous signs that he had been drinking, according to Brule.

Alves was treated at the scene of the crash by Warren EMTs and then taken to Rhode Island Hospital for additional treatment. He was charged with the DUI at the hospital, said Brule.

Alves also refused to take a chemical test at the hospital to determine his blood alcohol level, Brule said. He will be arraigned on Friday for that charge as well.
