Warren Man Pleads Not Guilty to Murder Charge

David Sousa of South Cutler Street is accused of murdering his girlfriend in late 2012.

David Sousa, the Warren man arrested for the murder of a Swansea woman in late 2012, pleaded not guilty in Fall River Superior Court on Tuesday, Dec. 31, according to the Associated Press.

Sousa, 54, of 98 South Cutler St., is accused of strangling to death his girlfriend, Lisa Mello, 51, who lived in the Ocean Grove neighborhood. She was found murdered on Nov. 24, 2012.

Sousa was indicted last fall while he was being held in the Adult Correctional Institutions as a probation violator for another charge. He has a long arrest record, according to the Warren police.
