Warren Teens Take Sunday Stroll to Vandalism Arrests

Two boys, ages 14 and 17, allegedly destroy fence pickets and solar lighting device at home on Child Street.

Two Warren teens out for on an early-morning walk on Child Street last Sunday, Jan. 12, have been charged with vandalism.

The teens, ages 14 and 17, apparently decided it would be fun to break some pickets on a fence and destroy a solar lighting device near a Fern Drive home.

The homeowners saw the boys damage the property and called the Warren police department around 9 am, according to the arrest report.

The boys also allegedly began whacking away at another nearby fence, according to Warren Police Lt. Roland Brule. They were confronted by the first alleged victim, who kept them occupied on the street by talking to them while a patrol officer responded.

The boys were charged with vandalism and malicious injury to property, said Brule. They were referred to the Warren juvenile officer to determine where their arrests will be heard.

If the boys admit to the vandalism, their arrests could be handled by the Juvenile Hearing Board. If they don’t admit to the charges, they will have to defend their actions in Family Court, Brule said.
