Decision Expected on School Funding Suit

Warren voters at last year's Financial Town Meeting level-funded the town's contribution to the regional school district.

The lawsuit brought by the Bristol-Warren School District against the town of Warren may soon reach a resolution, as a Superior Court judge is expected to issue a ruling shortly.

Judge Luis Matos heard an hour of testimony from school and town officials on Sept. 6, EastBayRI.com reported. A decision against the town would require another financial town meeting, the website quoted Warren Town Solicitor Anthony DeSisto as saying.

Warren voters at the Financial Town Meeting last May decided to level-fund the town's contribution to the regional school district.

The town council had voted earlier in 2012 to maintain the town's $11.75 million payment for fiscal 2013, leading to the suit.

What do you think? Should Warren prevail in the lawsuit brought by the school district? Or should the judge rule in the school district's favor?
