Free Flu Clinic at Mt. Hope High

You can get a free flu shot on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at Mt. Hope High School in Bristol.

A free flu clinic will be held on Wednesday evening, Jan. 15, at Mt. Hope High School.

The clinic will run from 5 to 8 pm. It is being set up by the RI health department with the help of the Bristol Fire Department.

The clinic is a response to the outbreak of flu throughout the state, according to Dr. Michael Fine, director of the health department.

Fine also said that this year is not a typical flu season. The strain of flu most prevalent is hitting younger people more than older adults.

“But the vaccine we have is a good match for this strain of flu,” he said.

Fine said that it is not too late to be vaccinated. People should take advantage of the clinic at the high school.

People are not required to have health insurance to get the flu shots, according to the health department. But  people with insurance are asked to bring their insurance cards with them.

If you have questions about the flu clinic, call the fire department at 253-6912.
