UPDATE: Parts of 114 Under Water

Call it Hope River.

Large sections of 114 through Warren and Bristol are under water as heavy rains continue in the area. Drivers are urged to use extreme caution making their way around town as roads throughout the area are flooded. In some areas, like at 114 and Locust Terrace, a fast moving current has the road looking more like a mountain stream.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Bristol, Warren and most of Rhode Island for today and tonight.

A weak cold front sweeping through New England is acting as a focus for rain with heavy downpours and isolated thunderstorms. Rainfall is expected at 1 inch per hour. A total rainfall of two inches is possible and may lead to urban flooding and small stream flooding, according to the NWS.

Showers are likely, with a possible thunderstorm before 4 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after.  Today will be cloudy, with a high near 80 degrees, and a west wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Street flooding is a possibility, and some evidence of that already exists around Warren and Bristol, so drivers are urged to use caution.
