Residents To Have Say on Budget

At least 125 voters are required at tonight's Financial Town Meeting to decide on the town spending plan


Warren's proposed $24 million fiscal 2013 budget is up for scrutiny tonight at the Warren Financial Town Meeting.

While the $24 million spending plan is an increase of more than $2 million over last year's budget, residents would actually see a decrease in the property tax rate from $17.15 per thousand of taxable value to $17.04, should the budget pass as is. The difference is made up with additional revenue that has come in through property and vehicle taxes, according to Assistant City Manager Denise Kinney.

Tonight's Financial Town Meeting requires a quorum of at least 125 voters to decide on the budget. If a quorum is not achieved, the budget would pass as proposed and the budget items $100,000 and over will be voted on at the Adjourned Town Meeting June 4, 9 a.m. on the second floor of .
