Historical Society Talk: Bristol Base Ball

The Bristol Historical & Preservation Society is holding its monthly meeting:  “Bristol Base Ball’s Best” with society member Kevin Faria speaking.  The meeting will be held at the Rogers Free Library, Herreshoff Community Room, 525 Hope Street.

Kevin, a former captain of the Providence Grays vintage baseball club, will talk on 19th century Bristol baseball.  He has studied and written extensively on the early game, including an award-winning screenplay based on the first World’s Series champion and has uncovered some of the best moments and people I our town’s already impressive sports history.

Why is base ball two words in the title? Come and find out.  An 1872/1874 inscribed Bristol presentation baseball bat and memorabilia will be on display.  A replica of a 19th century baseball card game will be for sale.
