Check Out Colorful Floats Before Parade

Beginning at 10:30 a.m. July 4, bands, dancers, clowns and all the entertainment that goes along with a parade will march down Hope and High streets to the delight of thousands of visitors.

Among the most popular attractions of any parade, of course, is the floats, and Bristol's procession is no different. Dozens of colorful, creative moving displays of art will roll through the parade route throughout the show. But you don't have to wait for the floats to reach you to get a quick glimpse of the artistry.

The parade floats will be on full display beginning at 7 a.m. Thursday along Asylum Road (the entrance to Colt State Park). Judges will be reviewing the creations throughout the morning, awarding prizes to the Most Patriotic, Most Beautiful and Most Original floats in two categories: Commercial and Non-Commercial. There will also be a Top Military Honors and Best in the Parade Awards.

Visitors can stroll along Asylum Road to take in the detail of the floats until they move to line up for the procession. The floats are expected to be set up around 7 a.m. and be on display through the awards presentation around 9:30.

Don't want to give up your prized spot along the route to go check out the floats? Don't worry... Patch will be there to highlight the winners before the parade even begins.
