Check out some high energy music as the Bristol 4th of July Concert Series continues thonight at Independence Park
The evening begin with the high-energy Swing, New Orleans R&B, jump blues, boogie-woogie The Superchief Trio brings to the stage at 6:45 p.m. The Superchief Trio — "the ultimate dance-party band" —is described as "a unique combination of two-fisted piano, red hot trombone, powerful vocals and frenzied percussion antics, all rolled up into one small package."
The bandfeatures covers of Professor Longhair, Huey Smith, Smiley Lewis, Wee Willie Wayne and many others. Pianist Keith Munslow met trombonist Pam Murray at Providence arts incubator AS220, where they performed together in the Smoking Jackets and the Neo 90s Dance Band. Keith and Pam began playing gigs at a dim and smoky basement bar called The East Bay Regatta Club. When Johnny Cote was recruited, Superchief Trio was born.
The Superchief Trio thrives on the recklessness and experimentation club music encourages. For more information, visit the band's website: www.superchieftrio.com.
