"We chose Habitat for Humanity of East Bay because it’s a great project for Bristol, both from an economic development perspective and for community vitality,” said Tucker.

Habitat purchased a plot of land on Wall Street in Bristol this past January. It has been fundraising in advance of the building phase. Tucker will be involved in that building project in some way still to be determined by Habitat for Humanity.

Anyone who supports the team with a minimum pledge of $25 will receive a custom-designed cotton T-shirt that says “I Supported the Flogging at Fenway.” You can also buy a T-shirt at 426 Fitness in Warren and Naturally Devine Nutrition in Bristol.

The men expect to navigate the obstacle course in 30 to 40 minutes. They expect to be among 5,000 to 6,000 racers, Tucker said.

Each of the men has participated in an obstacle race or a marathon before, so the challenge will not be new.

“It’s really a lot of fun,” said Ferreira.

They all agree, even if each of them must sign a lengthy waiver that protects the sponsor from lawsuits for injuries, said Tucker.

The men have a Facebook page. You can purchase a shirt directly from Tucker at ethanmtucker401@gmail.com or (401) 316-7749. There is also a Habitat website for other donations
