Enjoy Celtic Christmas Concert, Holiday Cookies at Warren Church

Here are some things to know about this week, Dec. 9-15, in and around Bristol and Warren: 

Franklin Court Assisted Living, 180 Franklin St., Bristol, hosts open houses every day this week, Monday through Friday, from 10 am to 4 pm. Operated by East Bay Community Development Corporation, Franklin Court is a full-service assisted living community offering three meals per day in our dinning room, housekeeping, medication management, assistance with activities of daily living and a host of social activities. 

Christmas at Blithewold holds the second of three traditional holiday story times on Wednesday at 4 pm in the beautifully decorated living room. This year, Blithewold is featuring classic holiday stories that have been told and retold during Christmases through the years. Drop in for one story time or come to all three on Dec. 4, 11, and 18. Free with a regular mansion admission.

Linden Place Mansion offers “The Clancy Legacy Celtic Christmas” concert on Friday, Dec. 13, at 7:30 pm – a fireside concert in the ballroom honoring both the holidays and winter solstice. The Clancy Legacy includes some of the next generation of performers descended from the Clancy Brothers of Ed Sullivan fame in the 196’s. Aoife Clancy is on vocals and bodhran, Robbie O’Connell plays the guitar and signs and George Keith plays the fiddle and concertina. Tickets are $20 general admission, $16 for Linden Place members and $12 for Colt Circle members. Call to reserve tickets at 401-253-0390. 

Thursday Night Write, a creative writing group at Rogers Free Library, 525 Hope St., Bristol, hosts an Open Mic Night in the Herreshoff Community Room on Thursday at 7 pm.  Bring your music, songs, poems and stories of all kinds to share in a coffee house setting. Coffee, tea, baked goods and  others snacks will be provided by the Friends of the  Rogers Free Library.

The Baptist Church in Warren holds its annual “Christmas Cookie Walk” on Saturday, Dec. 14, starting at 9 am until all the cookies are gone. A wide variety of home-made and hand-decorated frosted, filled, sugar, and gingerbread cookies will be sold at $8 per pound. Come early for the best selection.
