Here's What's Happening This Weekend

Here are some things to do this weekend, Nov. 29-Dec. 1, in and around Bristol and Warren:

Warren holds its 25th annual Holiday Festival on Friday night and Saturday evening all over downtown and historic district. Described as a real Norman Rockwell event, the festival is completely oriented for families with plenty of activities for any age to enjoy both days starting at 5 pm on Friday with Santa’s arrival at the Baker Street Fire Museum. There will be tree lightings on Water Street and Main Street next to Town Hall on Friday evening and plenty of afternoon festivities and activities on Saturday.

Bristol holds its annual Christmas Festival on Sunday starting at Mt. Hope High School with a breakfast with Santa from 8 to 11 am and plenty of other family activities until noon, including a family friendly magic show. Then at 4:15 pm, there will be holiday music in front of the Burnside Building on Hope Street and a pre-show for the “Grand Illumination” with caroling, music and other entertainment starting at 4:45 pm. The “Grand Illumination” ceremony starts at 6 pm in front of the Burnside Building.

The Ballet Center in Bristol presents a performance of the classic holiday ballet, “The Nutcracker” on Saturday at 1 pm at St. Andrew’s School, 63 Federal Road, in Barrington.

Ballet Prestige of Barrington presents its second performance of “The Nutcracker” on Sunday at 3 pm at St. Andrew’s School, 63 Federal Road, in Barrington. You can purchase tickets online or at the door of the McCulloch Center for the Arts.

The Silver Bells, women who make up the Take 4 quartet and Six in the City, will perform holiday music at 3 pm on Sunday at the Blithewold Mansion on Ferry Road in Bristol. The all-women's group performs four-part a cappella music in the barbershop style.
