Hoedown and Cornhole, Love Play and Pet Blessing

What are you doing this weekend in Bristol and Warren?

The weekend forecast is for a chance of rain Friday night into Saturday, then clearing and sunny on Sunday, with highs in the 70s — so get out an enjoy some of these great events.

Friday night, East Bay Food Pantry is the beneficiary of the Uncorked Hoedown fundraiser, set for 6 p.m. at Mt. Hope Farm. 

The Goat Ropers provide the entertainment; 195 Franklin dishes the nosh. Online tickets are $75 each. Cowboy duds optional.

Also Friday night, Rogers Free Library hosts "Love Letters" by A.R. Gurney, performed by William Cain and Leta Anderson to celebrate the library's 5th anniversary.

Show starts at 7 p.m. Limited seating — call (401) 253-6948 to reserve a spot.

On Saturday morning at 11 a.m., Market Street Pub & Grill in Warren hosts a Cornhole Tournament to benefit the Mt. Hope Huskies football team.

Cost is $50 per two-person team. Macaroni dinner and raffles following the conclusion of play. Stop by the pub, or call a member of the Gridiron Club, to register.

St. Michael's Church in Bristol is the place for Sunday's Blessing of the Animals, starting at 12 noon. 

Canon David Lucey officiates the service, for pets [property restrained, please] and their owners. Donations also gladly accepted for the Bristol Animal Shelter.

Keep up the pet-friendly theme on Sunday beginning at 2 p.m. with the Celebrity Pianist Concert at Linden Place.

Philip Wesley, Doug Hammer, and Gary Girouard tickle the ebony and ivory in support of the cause.

Online tickets are $20 advance, $25 at the door. Kids $10.
