Weekend Agenda: Toe Jam Band, Roger Williams Homage
Blithewold Mansion hosts an outdoor lunchtime concert, and a short drive will bring you to great ocean-side locations.
It's shaping up to be a great weekend in Bristol and Warren — what are you planning to do?
We've got a list of destinations for weekend travel — including events in nearby towns.
Friday, Aug. 23:
Scenic Blithewold Mansion is the site for the Family Fun Friday, with the Toe Jam Puppet Band. The East Bay Chamber of Commerce brings the live performance and refreshments [thanks, Leo's Pizza]. You bring the blanket and other luncheon fare. Rain or shine.
For a much different vibe, head down to the Newport Yachting Center for the Brew and View, with the classic flick Jaws and almost a dozen local food trucks, plus Sam Adams to purchase. Bring blankets and chairs.
Saturday, Aug. 24:
The Barrington Farmers' Market in on for 9 a.m. to noon, at 461 Old County Road. Featuring local vendors and artists.
Another outdoor movie is planned for 3rd Beach Road in Middletown by newportFILM Outdoors. This week's film is The Short Game. $5 suggested donation.
Sunday, Aug. 25:
Celebrate Rhode Island's founder [did you know it's 350 years this year?] at Touro Synagogue in Newport with a performance of New and Dangerous Opinions of Roger Williams. The Aurea Ensemble provides a soundtrack to readings of Williams.
