Warren Man Hit By Car in Warwick Dies

Darrell Daugherty, of Market Street in Warren, died in Rhode Island Hospital Tuesday after the May 1 collision.

A Warren man, who was wearing headphones while walking on a cloudy night  and was hit by a car on May 1 has died, Warwick police reported on Monday, the Providence Journal reported. Darrell Daugherty, 51, whose last known address was Market Street, Warren, succumbed at Rhode Island Hospital over the weekend, according to a news release. The driver, John Robshaw, 31, of Nausauket Road in Warwick, is not expected to face charges in the accident, which occurred on Post Road near Fisher Road in Warwick around 10 p.m. on May 1. "The pedestrian was walking in dark clothing and wearing headphones at the time of the collision," a police news release read. "These factors may have played a role in the cause of the collision."

Bristol police made the following arrests the week of April 30-May 7: Dylan Matteo, 19, 3526 Westminster St., Oceanside, NY, was charged with disorderly conduct after allegedly urinating in public on State Street. James McGowan, 22, of 221 State St., Apt. 2, Bristol, was arrested for allegedly violating a restraining order. Jason P. Mailloux, 33, of 160 Broad St., Providence, was arrested on five bench warrants for failure to appear, violation of probation, and conspiracy to violate the controlled substances act. Police arrested Mailloux after a foot chace, after they responded to reports of a possible carjacking at Metacom and Hope avenues. Police Log: Suspended Licenses and a Fugitive From Justice

The Warren Police Department made the following arrests the week of April 30-May 6: Stephen Henson, 34, of 201 Pitman St., Providence, was arrested on a 6th District Court bench warrant last week when officers responded to Main and Union streets after reports that an intoxicated man had fallen down. James Torres, 32, of 130 South St., Woonsocket, was charged with driving on a suspended license after police pulled him over on Metacom Avenue. Michael Scott Fanning, 51, of 11 Arlington Ave., Warren, was arrested at Market Street and Schoolhouse Road last week on a fugitive arrest warrant from the California Department of Corrections. Jennifer L. Souza, 36, 202 Market St., Warren, was arreted on a 6th District Court bench warrant. Ashley A. …

Cicilline to be Arraigned on Bristol DUI Charge

  John Cicilline, the brother of Rep. David Cicilline's, is scheduled to face arraignment today in an alleged drunken driving case out of Bristol, the Providence Journal reported. John Cicilline, 55, of 119 High St., is due to be arraigned Wednesday in Providence District Court on charges of driving under the influence and refusing to submit to a chemical test. He was arrested in Bristol May 3 after he allegedly drove his 2000 gold colored Lincoln through a stop sign at Thames and Franklin Streets in downtown Bristol. Police say the officer followed the vehicle and clocked Cicilline traveling at 45 miles per hour on Thames Street. Police say the officer stopped Cicilline, who was the only person in the vehicle, in the area of 251 Thames St…

Warren Police on the Hunt for Armed Robbery Suspect

The robbery took place on Monday, May 7, at Dels Lemonade.

Warren Police are looking for information leading to an arrest of a suspect who alledgedly robbed Dels Lemonade while displaying a knife. According to a release, on May 7, at approximately 5:10 pm, officers were called to Dels Lemonade at 65 Child St. for a reported armed robbery. The clerk advised police that subject described as a white male, approximately 5'6", slim build, and dark hair. The clerk told police that the suspect had robbed her at knife point taking an undetermined amount of cash.  The release states that digital images captured show the subject wore a designer baseball cap, dark sunglasses, a short sleeve shirt with a bulky “down type” vest. Man run over trying to stop drunk driver An allegedly drunk driver pulled into Metacomet Country Club in East Providence and one vigilant citizen decided he would not let him leave. Following the erratic driver's Dodge into the country club parking lot, the man stood in front of the vehicle to take down his license plate number and corral it until officers arrived, according to police. That's when the drunk driver allegedly drove his vehicle into the man's leg, breaking a front light and sending the him onto the hood of the car. The man allegedly tried to grab the windshield wiper for support but fell to the ground. A witness came to help and a fight ensued. "What do you mean I can't take this boat out? I'm a New Yorker." Barrington police were called last Wednesday evening to question a young man getting out of a row boat at a private dock in Barrington who used the vessel without permission. The man admitted it was not his boat, which is owned by a Warren man. He said “the current in the river was too strong” and he could not return the boat to the other side, police said. He was looking for a ride back to his cousin’s house. Barrington police said the man was from New York and was visiting a cousin in Warren. He took the boat to simply go for a ride across the river, police said. The owner of the boat did not want to press charges after it was returned to him. It could have been a deadly …

Bristol Police Arrest Cicilline's Brother for DUI

David Cicilline's brother, John, was arrested on Thursday evening.

John M. Cicilline, Bristol resident and brother to Congressman David Cicilline, was arrested by Bristol Police on Thursday night for allegedly driving drunk. According to police, Cicilline, 55, of 119 High St., drove his 2000 gold colored Lincoln through a stop sign at Thames and Franklin Streets in downtown Bristol. Police say the officer followed the vehicle and clocked Cicilline traveling at 45 miles per hour on Thames Street. Police say the officer stopped Cicilline, who was the only person in the vehicle, in the area of 251 Thames St. According to police, the officer detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and asked Cicilline take a field sobriety test. Dreadnaught Fire & Hose Co. Hosts First-Ever Lobster Roll Fundraiser

The fundraiser will be held on Friday, May 18 at 6 pm at the Dreadnaught Fire Station in Bristol.

This May, Bristol's Dreadnaught Hook Ladder & Hose Co #1 will put a creative twist on a traditional fundraiser as they host their first ever "Lobster Roll". Based around the idea of the more well known "Turkey Roll" fundraisers, Dreadnaught Captain A.J. Medeiros and his crew settled on the idea to host a Lobster Roll on Friday, May 18. "We've been thinking about putting it together for a while and now we're finally doing it," Medeiros said. "We're really hoping for a great turnout." According to Medeiros, the event will run much like a Turkey Roll.
