Here are several ways you can make sure your sports teams are highlighted on Bristol-Warren Patch this season.
Spring sports at Mt. Hope High School are beginning with many teams looking to build on their success from last year. Around Bristol and Warren, youth sports are also underway — and we want to help share all the great moments and highlights from this spring with the community. We are looking for athletes, coaches, parents, booster club members and fans who are ready, willing and able to show their team spirit on Bristol-Warren Patch. News about any team — high school, middle school, recreation teams, etc. — is welcome! Here's how you can share news about your sports team this spring: 1. Start a blog about your sports team: Share stats, recaps, photos and/or videos from the game in your own sports blog. Discuss the team, coaches and …

The bill would allow school districts to have gender-exclusive events as long as similar events are offered to the opposite gender.
A state Senate Committee recently approved a bill that would allow school districts to have father-daughter dances and other gender-exclusive events, as long as comparable events for the opposite gender is offered. The bill now heads to the Senate floor. The bill, 2013-S 0012 — submitted by Cranston Sen. Hannah Gallo — would alter state gender discrimination laws, which Cranston school lawyers have said traditional father-daughter dances violate. The team — just two years removed from a winless season — this year captured the U-10 Frostbite Championship over the winter.
Another year of experience and growth has helped the Bristol Wasps U-10 indoor soccer squad to their best finish, a victory in the recent Frostbite Championship. Only two years ago, the local booters finished without a win for the season; last year, the squad finished one win away from the Session 2 crown, Coach Peter Squatrito explained during a recent interview. Squatrito, who's watched his son, Christian, advance through the younger age brackets leading to the Under-10 division, also said he's seen his squad grow into better players — and a team. "They got a little bit better each year — they learned that you have to pass, you have to play defense, you have to stop the goals, and each year, they started getting it more and working as …
