Fruit Donation Helps Fill Pantry's Shelves

Bristol Good Neighbors, which serves breakfast and lunch every day for those in need, is always looking for more donations.

The Bristol Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen is always looking for new donations to help feed those in need, and recently got a bounty thanks to the Narragansett Bay Wheelmen The Wheelmen sponsored the Flattest Century in the East last week, hosting 2,200 cyclists to ride 100 miles through towns including Dartmouth and Tiverton. The Wheelmen provided snack stops with fresh fruit along the route, but fewer cyclists than were expected showed up in the rain, resulting in extra fruit. NBW donated four cases of grapes, four cases of bananas and three cases of oranges to Bristol Good Neighbors. Combined with the continuing donations of fresh vegetables from Frereich's Farm and other local farmers, the food pantry of Good Neighbors has a wonderful …

Donation Helps Clothe Bristol's Needy

Chobani Yogurt and Gil's Appliance team up to donate a washer and dryer to Bristol Good Neighbors.

Bristol Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry provides more than just food to those in need. The pantry is a place for those less fortunate to come for their basic needs of life. Homeless residents in the Bristol-Warren area now have a place to go to clean and maintain their clothing — critical possessions for those living on the street — thanks to a $1,500 grant from Chobani Yogurt and a discount from Gil's Appliance. The equipment is used by soup kitchen diners, who are often homeless or in difficult circumstances. The pantry also use the equipment to wash kitchen aprons and towels, and to wash donations of clothing. Even in summertime, donations are critical to keep the essential charity running. This week, Good Neighbors is in …

The parking lot of BankNewport was turned into a makeshift headquarters for drop-off, collection and sorting of hundreds of non-perishable food items.
