Friends, Family Honor Anniversary of Warren Resident's Death

The benefit concert raised hundreds for the Warren Animal Shelter.

Friends and family of the late Katheryn "Katia" Cabral, of Warren, celebrated her life on Monday evening by hosting a concert at the Coffee Depot to benefit the Warren Animal Shelter. Joyce Katzberg, Cabral's neighbor and friend, hosted the event in honor of the one year anniversary of her death. Cabral, 56, was found dead inside the rear of a submerged vehicle at Gull Cove in Portsmouth on Dec. 17, 2010.  "We wanted a chance to celebrate her life all together rather than all grieve alone," Katzberg said. Katzberg said the inspiration for the event came from Cabral's passion for animals and music, so the benefit combined the two. Warren Animal Shelter Fundraiser to Honor Deceased Resident

A concert and fundraiser in memory of the late Katia Cabral will be held Monday, Dec. 12, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Coffee Depot in Warren.

The Warren Animal Shelter will honor the late Katia Cabral at a concert and fundraiser this Monday at the Coffee Depot in Warren, reports the Sakonnet Times.  Katheryn "Katia" Cabral, 56, of Warren, was found dead inside the rear of a submerged vehicle at Gull Cove in Portsmouth on Dec. 17, 2010.  The cause of her death was determined to have been an accidental drowning. She had last been seen at a birthday party and fundraiser, which was held at The Beach House in Portsmouth on Dec. 12.  An avid animal lover and volunteer at the Warren Animal Shelter, Cabral graduated from Endicott College, receiving a master's degree in education with a focus in creative arts and learning.
