Children's consignment shop, Luca, opened this week in Warren.
Do not be confused by the wide spacious room where sunshine streams through large windows casting light over row upon row of organized clothing. Luca is definitely a consignment shop, just not the usual dark and cramped space where customers are meant to sort and sift for hours. “I wanted to get away from the typical consignment shop where you feel the walls are closing in,” said owner Diane Jennings. Luca officially opened this week in Warren. The shop specializes in children’s consignment from newborns to teens, and carries maternity items as well. Bristol's Sports Exchange helps students learn vocational and life skills.
Heather Tolan and Cassie Tucker had never considered golf gear before starting to work at Bristol’s Sports Exchange. “Now we know the difference between drivers and wedges,” said Tolan. “And irons!” added Tucker. The two 19-year-old Tiverton girls are students at the East Bay Transitional Academy, a skill-building program that helps 18- to 21 year-olds join the work force or prepare students to attend a college or trade school. Warren's East Bay Educational Collaborative funds both the Academy and The Sports Exchange, which accepts consigned and donated sporting goods from hockey sticks and ice skates to books, treadmills, jerseys and more.
