Bristol Man Arrested in Portsmouth on Domestic Assault Charge

The following is based on reports from the Portsmouth Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

  A Bristol man was sent to prison following his arrest on Jan. 29 by Portmouth Police. Following his arrest on one count of domestic simple assault, officers presented Christopher Adams, 24, for arraignment in Second District Court, Newport, where he was ordered held without bail for violating terms of a no contest plea from November, 2012, on an unrelated charge of larceny under $1,500 brought by Bristol Police. Portsmouth Police reported that they stopped the car driven by Adams on Tuesday at 9:15 am on Turnpike Avenue.  According to police reports, officers were first alerted to an alleged domestic dispute inside a vehicle, which was seen stopped on Bristol Ferry Road. Bristol Man to Serve 17 Years for Domestic Assault

Joseph Botelho was ordered to prison after his most recent arrest.

A Bristol man has been sent to prison for 17 years after a series of domestic assaults. Superior Court Judge Williams E. Carnes, Jr., ordered Joseph Botelho, 44, of Bristol, to serve the remaining 17 years on his 19 year probation sentence for three felony counts of domestic assault, Attorney General Peter Kilmartin announced. The order comes after Botelho was charged with assaulting his wife and two teenage children. The East Providence Police Department arrested Botelho, who has a long criminal history dating back to 1986, after he reportedly attempted to run from the police.
