There was a time when I had two condos in San Diego, California. Nowadays, I'm baffled at how anyone (but the "rich") can even afford to pay the annual property taxes on their homes. Such was the case when the Jarvis / Gann initiative became the famous "Prop. 13" that limited California property taxes to 1% of appraised value. This one pencil's out at about 1.4%.
