Family Member to Design Betty Brito's Fourth of July Ball Gown

A fashion designer from Riverside will be making Chief Marshal Betty Brito's dress for the Fourth of July Ball.

This year's Fourth of July Chief Marshal, Betty Brito, has chosen her niece, Kara Wickman of Riverside, to dress her for the Bristol Fourth of July Ball.  "When I found out she had been named chief marshal, I told her, 'I have to design your dress for the ball, that’s a given,' " Wickman said. Though Wickman is pretty tight-lipped about Brito's dress, she confessed that the dress is navy blue and was re-designed from a dress she revealed during Style Week in Providence in January. Wickman estimates that the dress took her three weeks to make and would probably cost around $400 retail.  "I can't say too much," she said.
