Veggies Grow Beyond the Snow at Mount Hope Farm

Mount Hope Farm utilizes a new climate-controlled greenhouse year-round as part of an educational agricultural program.

The forecast for Bristol is 74 degrees and humid. Well, at least it is inside of the new Mount Hope Farm greenhouse. Completed in early fall, the 90-by-30-foot greenhouse with radiant heated floors and a computerized heating/cooling system is already home to a variety of lush edibles including chard, beets, broccoli, spinach, peas, cabbage and lettuce varieties, herbs, nasturtiums and more. While the produce is organic, the greenhouse is still undergoing certification from the state so it cannot officially be advertised as such. In the meanwhile, the group is considered part of the "GAP" program, standing for "Good Agricultural Practices."
