Warren Residents Ask Town to Reject Liberty Street School Proposal
Residents express concerns and ask the Warren Town Council to reject bid by Brito Enterprises.
At a workshop held by the Warren Town Council on Thursday night, Warren residents expressed their concern over Brito Enterprises’ proposal for the Liberty Street School, which includes plans for twenty upscale condominiums at a purchase price of $200,000. Before opening the floor for comments, Council President David Frerich read a list of repairs needed at the school including a new roof, new soffits, the repair of a bell tower and removal of a fuel tank. According to Frerich, Public Works Director John Massed assessed the cost of repairs at $216,000 with additional costs up to $90,000 for soil removal if the tank has leaked. “If we decide not to do anything with the school we’re going to have to pay,” said Frerich.
