Cecelia C. (Smus) Troiano, 95

The Warren native and Bristol resident passed away on Apr. 15, 2013.

  Mrs. Cecelia C. (Smus) Troiano, 95, of Hope Street, Bristol, died peacefully on Monday, Apr. 15, 2013, at Oak Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Pawtucket. Cecelia was the wife of the late Matthew S. Troiano. The couple met on a blind date and were happily married for 64 years. She was born Apr. 6, 1918 in Warren, RI to the late Andrew and Petronella (Jusczak) Smus. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St., Bristol, on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at 10 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol. Bristol, Warren Clergy React to Pope's Resignation Announcement

Two local pastors said they're hoping for continuity from the next Pope.

  Following the announcement on Monday that Pope Benedict XVI plans to resign from the office on Feb. 28, two church leaders in Bristol and Warren offered their thoughts on the news. The Rev. Henry P. Zinno Jr., pastor of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Bristol, and Rev. Peter J. Gower, pastor of St. Mary of the Bay in Warren, explained in email messages that they expect the next Pope to maintain the continuity of the Church and lead the world's one billion Catholics. "I think it would be good to hear from the new Holy Father his desire to continue to lead the Church according to the commands of God and the teachings of Christ," Rev. Zinno wrote. Rev. The Bristol resident passed away on Jan. 30, 2013.

  Bruce A. Stanzione, age 52, of Duffield Road, Bristol, died Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Lisa (Cabral) Stanzione. Born in Providence, he was a son of Gaetano J. Stanzione of Bristol and the late Elvira (Biddle) Stanzione. Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home 192 Wood St., Bristol, on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 at 9 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 141 State St., Bristol.
