Small Business Saturday is on Nov. 24 this year, two days after Thanksgiving. It is a day for everyone to support the small businesses that their community thrives on. American Express founded the day in 2010 to help small businesses get exposure during the holiday season, when they might be otherwise overlooked. With retailers buzzing around the holidays, it is important to support local small businesses that rely on their neighbors in order to continue prospering and building the local economy in Bristol and Warren. For a second year, FedEx Corp. has committed to giving away $25 “Shop-Small American Express Gift Cards” through Facebook to 40,000. The Commercial Appeal reported that the promotion is to encourage consumers to support local, small independent businesses and is in honor of Small Business Saturday, Nov. 24. "America's small businesses are a unique and vibrant part of their local communities and a critical component to the broader health of our economy," T. Support local businesses by shopping local today.
Today is national Small Business Saturday, a movement created to keep hard earned dollars within the local economy during the holiday season. Many businesses in Bristol and Warren will be offering "Small Business Saturday" deals today, including The Knotty Dog in Bristol. Store owner Peggy Hicks says she is very excited to kick off the holiday shopping season this weekend with a number of bargains. "We at The Knotty Dog are really excited about the small business saturday movement," she said. "We will be running 3 or 4 specials for that weekend."
