Warren Fire Station 5's Clambake Prevails over Rain and Wind

Despite the weather, hundreds turned out for Warren Fire and Rescue Staion 5's clambake.

In a competition of largest clambake in the Warren Fire Department, Warren Fire and Rescue Station 5 would win time and time again. Despite Sunday's inclement weather, hundreds showed up for the station's clambake at Pete Sepe Pavilion. Torrential downpours and gusty winds rocked the tents, but the spirit of the volunteers and attendees was not deterred. With summer just around the corner, the Warren Recreation Department and its new director, Sharon Lombardo, are working feverishly to get prepared for summer. "It's a lot...stepping into the thick of it," said Lombardo, who was appointed to the role in March. The busiest time of year? "The next couple of weeks," she replied. "Then it's all camp." Registration begins today for Warren's annual summer camp, which is organized by the Recreation Board. Registration continues on Wednesday, June 15, and Saturday, June 18, as well as from June 21 to 24. Camp officially kicks off on June 27, and runs from 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through August 19. This year camp will have a one-time $35 registration fee, which the department has implemented at the …
