Potential Wind Farm in Tiverton Could Benefit Bristol, Warren

A workshop has been scheduled to discuss the idea of building a wind farm in Tiverton.

The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Tiverton Town Hall. Wind Turbines are a great way to cut costs if your running a plant that requires substantial amounts of power. The profits, are a result of reduction in energy costs. Selling electricity back to the electric companies is a spillover benefit. When you put energy on the grid you get almost half of what you'd pay for it. If I had a manufacturing business in Tiverton - I'd put one up and cut my costs…   more ›

Highlights from the Warren Town Council Meeting held on Tuesday, Jan 10.

The Warren Town Council unanimously approved an initial town expenditure of $7,800 to pay for the emergency removal of the controversial boat, Bon Moyage, on Tuesday evening. "This is the initial over-expenditure cost to move the boat to the current location," said interim Town Manager Thomas Gordon. Gordon also notified the Council that the one expenditure is not the end of what will be owed since an ordinance requires the town to hold the boat for 90 days. "The Council should know that there probably will be a follow up request in the area of $4,000 to $6,000 for storage and dry docking fees," he said. Though the town is responsible for shelling out the cash up front, Gordon and Town Solicitor Anthony DeSisto reassured the Council that …

We need this ordinance! I hope it doesn't take too long to put a revised ordinance in place. Too many landlords get away with using ulitities the tenant pays for, renting unsafe apts, not being truthful about the property (like claiming it's a 2 family when it's a 3 family to avoid higher taxes) and not disclosing that it is not lead free. This is just a few things that need to regulated without …   more ›
