Splash-over or minor coastal flooding may be possible this evening.
This week's peak astronomical high tides, which have offered some great photo ops, have prompted the National Weather Service to issue a special weather advisory for coastal Rhode Island. According to officials, splash over and even very minor coast flooding is possible with tonight's high tide in Narragansett Bay. The extreme astronomical high tides and strong winds and waves from storm brewing offshore are combining to create these weather conditions. Narragansett and Point Judith will be the most susceptible to the flooding and splash over, officials add. Tonight's peak tide is anticipated to start around 8 p.m. Anyone living or traveling along the coast are urged to take precaution this evening.
