ReplyWhat happened to kids going door to door shoveling snow to make a little money?
I never see young kids out looking for work these days it seems they have gotten lazy ,glued to there video game du jour . Maybe a local boy scouts troop could get organized and earn money for a fun summer field trip. There are many ways as a Society we can help are our selves. Government can only do so much and is very inefficient at what it is able to do.
It would be nice to hear from one our counsel members on the is issue. -

Reply"The sidewalks are a benefit for everyone, but the ordinance takes a public benefit and makes it private by requiring them to clear snow and ice that is often thrown back on the sidewalks by plows." quote from similar issue in Barrington.
The snow that the plows put back up on the sidewalk is a big problem, and again with no easy solution. Most people can clear 4 to 8 inches of fresh snow, which is light and can be easily moved. The snow the city plow leaves behind is more like cement and once it refreezes it's solid ice. Bottom line this issue has many moving parts, finding a solution that is fair and befits the majority of the residence is going to be more complicated then enforcing the current ordnance.
I hope the council and the town take there time with this and don't drop it once the snow has stopped falling.

Yes ban them . People are too lazy to change. The average plastic bag is used for 15 mins but here for ever. Plastic is entering the food chain via our oceans. Do you want to eat plastic fish?
Buy a few nice cloth bags keep them in the car.
