Should BCWA Give Marchand a Raise?

The Bristol County Water Authority Board put off decisions on a $6,200 raise for Executive Director Pamela Marchand and a new $100,000 engineer position.

Eighteen months into her tenure, Bristol County Water Authority Executive Director Pamela Marchand is eligible for a $6,200 raise to her $125,000 salary — but the BCWA board of directors doesn't seem ready to approve it just yet.

Board members recently held off on voting for the proposed 5-percent salary hike, and a $100,000-per-year engineer's position included in the agency's fiscal 2014 budget, EastBayRI.com reported.

The website quoted board member Raymond Palmieri as saying that Marchand's new pay level would surpass that of the governor.

What do you think?

Should Pamela Marchand get a raise? Was the BCWA board right to delay a decision?
