5 Things: Kids in the Kitchen, Get Out This Weekend and More

Five things to guide you through your day on Friday, July 26.

1. Get back to the good ol days family style on Friday with "Kids in the Kitchen." Kids and their families will get a chance to learn how to cook farm raised produce over the fire at the hearth of the 18th century Tenant Farmhouse.  We'll start by selecting seasonal produce, investigate old recipes in an 18th century cookbook, and then prepare a dish the way it was done 200 years ago!
The event is on Friday, July 26 from 10:00am-12:30pm.
Tickets cost $25.00 for Adults; $17.00 for Children (3-12).  Museum Members-$20.00 for Adults; $15.00 Children (3-12). (No food "served" during our educational workshop.)

2. Get off the couch this weekend and get out! Check out our Weekend Agenda on Patch to find to some great activities for all ages.

3. ZUMBA® for a Cause this Friday to support the Women's Resource Center (WRC) and the RI Coalition Against Domestic Violence (RICADV). Join the party and the movement to end domestic/dating violence! (It's a great way to get your pre-party on before going out. There will also be fabulous door prizes and giveaways! The first 50 will receive a gift and we'll have nail/hair/beauty treatments, beauty product/yoga certificates, and more up for grabs!) Tickets cost $10 and the fun goes from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

4. 'Dig into Reading' Summer Program presents an arts and crafts workshop for children aged 4-11 at the Rogers Free Library at 9:30 a.m.  Teen volunteers will assist the young ones in painting dragon masks, making Chinese puppets that look like the terracotta warriors excavated in China,or  make lanterns for cave decorating or coloring their own cave  "paintings" and more.  Just drop in! Free!

5. Break out your umbrellas this weekend, it's going to be a wet one. While weather forecasters are predicting lots of rain this weekend, the sun will make an appearance briefly on Saturday.
