Monday Essentials: RWU Volunteers, Pink Heals Visits Bristol

Helping the Community: Some 1,200 Roger Williams University students are expected to participate in Monday's Volunteer Day, which includes locations in Bristol, Portsmouth, Barrington, and other communities. Real Men Wear Pink: Continuing its annual tradition of visiting Rhode Island communities to spread the word about the fight against cancer, Rhode Island Pink Heals brings its bright pink rescue vehicles to Bristol on Aug. 30 for a parade at 1 p.m. and display at the Bristol Fire Department until 4 p.m. Find: RI Pink Heals Calendar

Due in Court: Jesse Perry, one of two brothers arrested earlier this year on child molestation charges, is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on Aug. 28 in Providence Superior Court. Background Checks: The Rhode Island Attorney General's office and the Bristol Police are providing BCI checks for prospective teachers on Sept. 5 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Bristol Police Department. Fees are $35 for a national check, $5 for state-only. Find: Background checks for RI teachers
